Shape Optimization in Metal Forming Applications Based on the Shape- Manifold Approach

چکیده
The concept of shape-manifold is applied here to the optimization of a deep drawn blank considering parameterized tool geometries. By adopting this concept, a realistic post-springback shape of the blank closest to a given ideal target shape is obtained. The global approach is fully automated, from the generation of the tool geometries, to the identification of the optimized design parameters. This approach was successfully applied to both simple 2D and complex 3D industrial test cases.

Application of T-shape Friction T test for Ti-6Al-4V Alloy at Elevated Temperatures
There are several parameters that have significant influence in metal forming process. One of the most important of them is friction coefficient. Friction can change the pattern of metal flow and the force needed for deformation. It is necessary to determine the friction coefficient to study the effect of friction on metal forming process. This study is concerned with numerical and experimental...
متن کاملAnalysis of deep drawing process to predict the forming severity considering inverse finite element and extended strain-based forming limit diagram
An enhanced unfolding Inverse Finite Element Method (IFEM) has been used together with an extended strain-based forming limit diagram (EFLD) to develop a fast and reliable approach to predict the feasibility of the deep drawing process of a part and determining where the failure or defects can occur. In the developed unfolding IFEM, the meshed part is properly fold out on the flat sheet and tre...
متن کاملEFFICIENT SIMULATION FOR OPTIMIZATION OF TOPOLOGY, SHAPE AND SIZE OF MODULAR TRUSS STRUCTURES
The prevalent strategy in the topology optimization phase is to select a subset of members existing in an excessively connected truss, called Ground Structure, such that the overall weight or cost is minimized. Although finding a good topology significantly reduces the overall cost, excessive growth of the size of topology space combined with existence of varied types of design variables challe...

This study focuses on the shape optimization of concrete gravity dams considering dam–water–foundation interaction and nonlinear effects subject to earthquake. The concrete gravity dam is considered as a two–dimensional structure involving the geometry and material nonlinearity effects. For the description of the nonlinear behavior of concrete material under earthquake loads, the Drucker–Prager...
